2024 WASSCE and BECE Leakage Advertised on Radio: WAEC, GES must be questioned
Some radio stations in Ghana have started advertising leaked questions for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). WAEC and GES must be questioned as to why they have allowed this to happen on the media space
These advertisements have not only undermined the integrity of the examinations but also have also jeopardized the future of many students.
The 2024 BECE is scheduled to begin next week, from 8th July to 15th July, 2024. Following the BECE, the WASSCE will commence. However, some unscrupulous individuals have already obtained the examination questions and are now advertising them on social media platforms and currently, on radio stations. This illegal activity poses a significant threat to the fairness and credibility of these examinations.
WAEC has always made it stand on the importance of maintaining the integrity of their examinations. WAEC works tirelessly to ensure that all students have a level playing field and that their academic achievements are a true reflection of their abilities and efforts. Unfortunately, the actions of a few persons threaten to tarnish the reputation of these exams and the hard work of countless students.
The advertisement of leaked examination questions on radio stations is particularly concerning. Radio is a widely accessible medium in Ghana, reaching a large audience, including students, parents, and educators. By promoting these leaked questions, these radio stations are indirectly encouraging cheating and dishonest behavior among students. This not only undermines the efforts of students who have studied diligently but also erodes public trust in the education system.
Also, the he sale and distribution of leaked examination questions on social media add another layer of complexity to the issue. Social media platforms are popular among young people, and the temptation to obtain these leaked questions can be overwhelming for some students. The widespread availability of these questions online makes it difficult for WAEC to control the situation and ensure the fairness of the exams.

WAEC needs to take immediate and decisive action to address this issue. WAEC should work closely with law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for leaking and advertising the examination questions. This will send a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated and that there are severe consequences for those who engage in these illegal activities.
WAEC should also engage with the radio stations involved in promoting the leaked questions. These stations must be made aware of the serious implications of their actions and be encouraged to cease their advertisements immediately. Public awareness campaigns can also be launched to educate students, parents, and the general public about the importance of academic integrity and the dangers of cheating.
The advertisement of leaked 2024 WASSCE and BECE questions by some radio stations and on social media is a serious issue that requires immediate attention from WAEC. By taking strong and decisive action, WAEC can protect the integrity of their examinations and ensure that all students have a fair and equal opportunity to succeed.
I believe WAEC may be boycotting the Ghana gov. or the already have plans in place to curb these ” leaks”
