Ahead of the release of the results of the April 2024 BECE home mock, the Education-News Consult has released the Chief Examiner’s Report on April 2024 BECE Home Mock by Education-News Consult.
The report provides a summary of issued of great concern to examiners and an update on the performance of the candidates in the 8 subjects administered in the 6th BECE Mock examination for students in their various homes.
The results of the examination once uploaded will be accessible on line. However, parents should look out for the result release information soon. (RESULT HAS NOT BEEN UPLOADED AT THE TIME OF THIS RELEASE.)

How to check the result 2024 BECE Home Mock Results for December
- Go to https://examhall.org/bece-home-mock-portal/.
- On the result page, choose the month of the exam (November).
- Choose the year the exam was taken (2023).
- Enter the roll number. This is the parent’s phone number without the starting zero. For, if your phone number is 0550336625, your ward’s index number will be all the numbers without the starting zero. Eg. 550336625
- Click on SEARCH to load the result.
The result looks like this
Parents whose children took part in the examination will receive the following in addition to the results via WhatsApp:
- Marking schemes of examinations taken.
- Examiner’s report (subject base), which is a summary of all student challenges and recommendations

ENGLISH LANGUAGE – EXAMINERS REPORT – APRIL 2024
- Candidates performed very well in the Literature part and summary part.
- Essay writing was seen to be a challenge as most candidates could not differentiate between a formal letter and an informal letter.
- Most candidates did not begin with a heading or title in a formal letter.
- Most candidates did not respect the appropriate protocols in debate writing or argumentative essay.
- Candidates could not write simple address in formal letters and informal letters.
- Candidate A’s Salutations were poorly constructed and introduction had no clue to what the essay was about.
- Most candidates spell poorly and construct poor Grammar in essay writing which affects their mechanical accuracy.
- Candidates are advised to master synonyms and antonyms which will be of much help in the comprehension part.

MATHS – EXAMINERS REPORT – APRIL 2024
- Candidates performed poorly. Performance was way below average.
- Candidates could not solve simple mensuration questions nor could even draw a perpendicular bisector.
- Poor handwriting from a few candidates.
- Most Candidates performed very well in the section A.
- Most Candidates could not even attain at least 30 out of 60 marks in the section B.
- Most candidates fumbled with simple ratio and proportion questions.
- Candidates are advised to solve more word problem questions.

COMPUTING – EXAMINERS REPORT – APRIL 2024
- The average performance was GOOD.
- Candidates are advised to master basic Computing terms and abbreviations like GIGO, HTML, WLAN, amongst others.
- Candidates are urged to master examples of input and output devices. Hence, candidates should be able to differentiate between the two.

INTEGRATED SCIENCE – EXAMINERS REPORT – APRIL 2024
- The average performance from candidates were not abysmal
- Most candidates could not explain mixed farming
- Most candidates performed poorly in the section A which affected their final scores.
- Most candidates scored extremely lower marks in the compulsory question.
Tip: For candidates to secure a grade 1 in the integrated science subject, they are to score at least 35 marks out of the 40 objectives questions and 77 marks out of the section B part (which is out of 100 marks).
With this, 35+77/140 X 100% =. 80%

RME – EXAMINERS REPORT – APRIL 2024
The average performance of the candidates was VERY GOOD. Below are a key few mistakes I found;
- Ineligible handwriting and not leaving spaces between answers.
- Candidates write too much for explanation. Explanations should be precise and accurate with an example each to gain the full marks.
- Candidates are advised to desist from listing more than what’s needed from them. If a candidate is asked to give four examples, he or she should obey such instructions.
- Candidates are advised to perform very well in the objectives in order to secure a good grade.

CREATIVE ARTS AND DESIGN AND CAREER TECHNOLGY EXAMINER’S REPORT
- The overall performance from candidates was VERY GOOD.
- Candidates are urged to continue with their exceptional performance.
- Candidates are also urged to learn how to draw simple tools and label their parts.
- Candidates are advised to state only function of a tool when asked and not state two by using ‘OR’ to confuse the examiner.
- Most candidates performed VERY WELL and scored above 70%.
- Candidates are then advised to score at least 26 out of 30 marks in the section A.
- Candidates are advised not to leave ‘potholes’ for examiners to mark.
- Candidates are advised to avoid too much cancellation.
- Candidates should not repeat the same answer but in different English.

SOCIAL STUDIES EXAMINER’S REPORT FOR APRIL BECE HOME MOCK
- The overall performance for Social Studies was VERY GOOD as most of the candidates explained points this time round compared to the March Mock.
- Candidates are motivated to keep up with the performance.
- Candidates are further advised to give precise and concise answers to questions that do not demand explanations.
- Support explanations with one good example and always ensure that they read through their work.
- With questions that demand explanations, candidates are advised to explain with an addition of an example.

Ten-point examiner’s recommendations for candidates and parents preparing for the 2024 BECE scheduled for July 2024:
- Master Essay Writing: Candidates should focus on distinguishing between formal and informal letters for essay writing. Begin formal letters with a proper heading/title and ensure the correct salutations and addresses are used.
- Learn Debate Protocols: Understand the appropriate protocols for debate writing and argumentative essays to effectively convey arguments.
- Improve Language Mechanics: Work on spelling and grammar proficiency as poor mechanics can detract from the quality of writing.
- Enhance Vocabulary: Master synonyms and antonyms to aid in comprehension tasks and improve overall language skills.
