Mr. Carbonu Advises Gullible Teachers on WhatsApp Contributions
The president of NAGRAT, Mr. Angel Carbonu, while describing some teachers are gullible and timid has cautioned all teachers in Ghana to be very careful and stop contributing money to WhatsApp platforms and to people they do not know who promise to use such money to organize press conferences through which the grievances of the teachers will be tabled.
In an audio copied to Ghanaeducationnews.org, Mr. Angel Carbonu, who was not happy with how easily professional teachers get easily convinced by people on social media, described educators contributing such monies as gullible.
In his submission, he attempted to find out what was wrong with the Ghanaian teacher and how the Ghanaian teacher is gullible.
In his submissions, he revealed that someone created a WhatsApp group and promised teachers he would be organizing a campaign to fight for the interests of Ghanaian teachers through the organization of press conferences. The conferences were to be used to put pressure on the three main pre-tertiary teacher union leaders and the government. The aim of the conference was also to give Ghanaian teachers what they wanted.
He complained bitterly about teachers making contributions to a person whose intentions they (teachers) did not know.
Mr. Carbonu quizzed the Ghanaian teacher to find out what was wrong.
He characterized the Ghanaian teacher as gullible and timid for giving in to manipulation.
Mr. Carbonu furthered that teachers made contributions to the said person on the WhatsApp page, yet they complain they do not have money and are facing financial problems.
He added that the reasons for why the teachers were contributing the money were those that were already known to the unions and that they were already fighting to get them resolved for the teaching fraternity. He wondered why teachers felt that a stranger they did not know was capable of solving their problems.
He called on all teachers to desist from some of the acts. Mr. Carbonu also gave advice to those who stand up and seek recognition whenever the unions engage in a struggle for the teachers’ interests.
In a related development, some teachers disagreed with his call and the content of his audio. Some teachers who do not agree with him argued that there have been two meetings since the strike was called off, and yet the common teacher has not given a briefing regarding the two meetings. They do not understand why teachers should be addressed as gullible.

Gullible? Well, I think that by extension, those teachers are sending a signal to the union’s leadership about how ready they’re to contribute voluntarily towards getting professional negotiators for this cause. It’s a notice for leadership not to disappoint teachers.
As much as possible, the led must have trust for the lead; however, allegations also have it that engagement with the government becomes an opportunity for the leads to enrich themselves with fat envelopes. Hence the fear of the common teacher.

There have been two meetings, and the common teacher has no iota of briefing regarding the two meetings. If the chance has come for you to address issues, you would prefer to call the already frustrated common teacher names to brief them.
It is my hope that if the historical events that led to the breakaway of NAGRAT and CCT aren’t ringing any bells, they should do the needful.
