GES Commiserate With Family Of The Deceased O’Reilly SHS Student

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released a statement to commiserate the family of the deceased O’Reilly SHS Student.
In the statement released on Wednesday, 4th September, GES stated that the institution is still in shock over the unfortunate passing of the student. .
In the statement, GES stated on September 4, 2024, the Director-General of the GES, Dr Eric Nkansah, accompanied by a team, visited the school and the bereaved family to offer their sympathies and support during this difficult time. The GES assured the public that it is working closely with relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This sad incident occured on Monday, 2nd September, 2024, after the deceased and his colleague engaged on a heated conversation in school over whose father is richer. According to report, the suspect stabbed the deceased three times in the chest.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred at O’Reilly Senior High School, resulting in the loss of a final-year student, Master Edward Sackey. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the bereaved family, friends, and the entire school community.
Today, 4th September 2024, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service led a team to visit the school and the deceased’s family to commiserate with them. We will continue to support the school and assure the public that we are working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure a thorough investigation.
We hope to conclude our administrative investigations within two weeks while the Police
Service handles the criminal investigation. We are pleased to report that calm has been
restored on the campus, and we are working to ensure the well-being and safety of all
students and staff.
GES remains committed to providing a secure and conducive learning environment for all students. We will continue to work tirelessly to prevent such incidents and ensure our schools remain safe spaces for academic excellence.
We urge the public to refrain from speculations and allow the investigative processes to unfold. We will provide updates as necessary.
Once again, we express our deepest condolences to the affected family and the school community.
