Sunyani Technical University Pro-VC Sued For Fake PhD
Sunyani Technical University (STU) Pro-Vice Chancellor (Pro-VC), Justice Solomon Korantwi-Barimah, has been sued over fake PhD certificate. He has been sued at the Sunyani High Court over academic dishonesty.
The plaintiff, Charles Addo Odokyi, a final year student at Sunyani University, is seeking damages to prevent the defendant from continuing his duties as a PhD holder and becoming the Vice Chancellor of the school.
Dr. Agyeman Boakye, Chairman of the STU Council and the Accra-based Ghana Higher Education Commission (GTEC) responsible for the university. Korantwi-Barimah was also added to the indictment, which alleges that Korantwi-Barimah committed academic misconduct while she was a professor and working at a Pro-VC college and a leading Pro-VC. The case was filed on the 29th and was heard on September 5, 2024, but adjourned until October 26, 2024.
The Doctorate of Technology in Human Resource Management is considered by GTEC to be equivalent to a PhD in a relevant field from a recognized university in Ghana.
Charles Addo Dokyi has once again asked the court to order Justice Dr. Solomon Korantwi Barimah to be academically disqualified from holding the position of Pro-VC for the period from September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2024. He wants the court to declare the first respondent ineligible to be elected as Pro-VC in the current term. The term will end on August 31, 2024
He also asked the court to order the first respondent to return the money from September 1, 2021 to date.
Justice Solomon Korantwi-Barimah holds the position of Pro Vice Chancellor at Sunyani Technical University where he is actively involved in facilitation of academics and institutional advancement.
