2024 GES Study Leave with Pay Open
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has opened applications for all of its employees seeking 2024 GES Study Leave with Pay.
The GES has indicated that only eligible applicants should apply.
Who is eligible to apply for the 2024 GES Study Leave with Pay?
To be eligible to apply for study leave with pay, you must teach the following subjects:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Mathematics
- Engineering
- Integrated Science
- English Language
- Physical Education
- French
- ICT
- Special Education
- Ghanaian Language
- Guidance and counselling
- Early Childhood
- Religious Studies
- Economics
- Government
- Geography
- History
- Music
Only those who fall into the following categories are eligible to apply for study leave for non-teaching staff.
- Laboratory technician
- Accounting
- Procurement
- Purchasing, Supply, and Logistics
- Administration
- Secretarial Studies
- Human Resource Management
- Visual arts subjects
- Vocational training subjects
- We offer technical courses, including creative arts and technical drawing.
After meeting the aforementioned basic requirements, applicants must also meet the following (conditions for the grant if study leave is paid):
- You must have served satisfactorily as a staff member of the GES for at least three years.
- You must have served in an area the GES classified as deprived for at least two years.
- No professional graduate teacher should have served for less than one year to qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education program.
- All service personnel returning from secondment must serve a minimum of two years before they can apply for paid study leave.
Staff of the service who vacate or leave the service and I reappointed or re-engaged must serve a minimum of 5 years before being eligible for study leave with pay.
A staff member who did not receive steady leave with pay in the first year cannot apply again in the second year of his or her studies. Instead, such staff must apply for study leave without pay in order to pursue the course.
A staff member who is eligible to study live with pay must have a minimum of 2 years to serve after the course. For example, a staff member who is 55 years of age and older cannot apply for study living with pay to pursue a course that will last four years or more. He or she can, however, apply to pursue a course that has a duration between one and two years.
A staff member is eligible for steady leave with pay, subject to the following conditions:
He or she must perform well within the service and receive a recommendation from their immediate supervisor.

The necessary documents and details are needed to apply for the 2024 steady live position with pay as a staff member of the GES.
- Applicants should obtain application forms from the Metro office, municipal office, or district education office.
- The applicant should also complete the application forms and provide four copies.
- Attach certified copies of their educational certificates.
- Applications should be submitted to the applicant’s regional director through the Metro, municipal, or district director or head of institution if the person is in a second cycle school.
- By October 31, 2024, the regional or district directors should ensure that the list of all fully qualified beneficial persons reaches the acting director, human resource management and development of the Ghana Education Service headquarters.
