Latest Ghana Education News For 2024 BECE – 50 objective questions to be administered or issued to 2024 BECE candidates per subject.

In its most recent update, the Ghana Education Service (GES) announced there will be 50 objective questions for each subject during the 2024 BECE.

Prior to this development  BECE objective test for most subjects were 40 with those for Basic Design and Technology being 30.

While the New Questions Structure For The 2024 BECE is out, the information available did not explain what percentage of the exam score will be located to the 50 objective test questions. Previous, English for instance was 40 marks for 40 questions just like Social Studies and Mathematics. According to the information at our disposal, the 50 objective test questions will also come with their own format as per the GES’s release that accompanied the sample questions for the examination.

At the time of publishing this story, the Ghana Education News team could confirm that the following subjects will have 50 objective test questions when this story is published.

• English Language 

• Mathematics

• Social Studies 

• Integrated Science 

The GES, MoE, and NaCCA have also released the first set of sample questions for would-be BECE candidates preparing for the pending examination to be administered in July.

The above changes will affect only candidates accessed using the 2019 Basic 7–10 curriculum, known as the Common Core Curriculum.

The new changes will not affect candidates who sat previous BECE examinations but were unsuccessful. Public and private basic schools will register students for the examination under these new changes.

According to the preamble attached to the released sample questions, the subjects above will test the following:

2024 BECE English Language Questions Structure will assess understanding, knowledge application, and analytical skills, among other things, using objective tests, essays, comprehensions, and summary questions.

2024 BECE Mathematics Questions, Structure, and Topics to Watch

For the 2024 BECE Mathematics Questions Structure, the 50 objective test questions will cover the following: The questions will cover topics such as Number and Numeration Systems, Number Operations, Fractions, Decimals and Percentages, Ratio and Proportion.

Other objective test questions will be based on algebraic reasoning, such as patterns and relationships, algebraic expressions, variables and equations, shape, and space.

The rest will be from Geometry Around Us (Measurement, Position, and Transformation) and Handling Data (Data, Chance of Probability).

A related development is the scheduling of the 2024 BECE from Monday, July 8, to Friday, July 12, 2024. WAEC will, however, administer separate examination questions for school candidates and private BECE candidates (those who failed the exam per the old curriculum).
