University of Ghana 2024 Provost’s Publication Awards Opened

The University of Ghana has officially announced the opening of the 2024 Provost’s Publication Awards. The award seeks to recognize and award research works by faculty and graduate students.
PROVOST’S PUBLICATION AWARDS IN THE HUMANITIES
The Provost of the College of Humanities invites all Faculty and Doctoral Students within the College to submit entries for the 2024 Provost’s Publication Awards. The Award forms part of efforts to strengthen and support research culture within the College of Humanities while providing opportunities for doctoral students and researchers to showcase their work.
2024 Provost’s Publication Awards Opened Categories of Awards for the 2024 Awards
1. Publication Awards Categories
a) Early-Career Best Published Work
b) Mid-Career Best Published Work
c) Late-Career Best Published Work
2. Overall Best Researcher
3. Doctoral Students’ Awards Categories
a) PhD Year One
b) PhD Year Two
c) PhD Year Three
d) PhD Year Four
Eligibility Criteria
Early-Career Best Published Work: Lecturers/Research Fellows affiliated with any unit of the College of Humanities, who have been in the service of the University of Ghana, Legon, for not more than five years prior to the date of submission of the application.
Mid-Career Best Published Work: Senior Lecturers/Senior Research Fellows/Associate Professors in the College of Humanities who have been in the service of the University of Ghana for a total of not more than ten years.
Late-Career Best Published Work: Professors/Associate Professors in the College of Humanities who have been in the service of the University of Ghana for a minimum of 10 years.
Overall Best Researcher:
a) Open to all categories of Faculty
b) This would be based upon a distinguished record in research, publication and/or creative works.
Doctoral Students’ Awards Categories: Registered PhD candidates within the College of Humanities, University of Ghana.
Assessment Criteria for Submissions:
i. Methodological rigour: Rigour of the research processes, including evidence of ethical considerations.
ii. Creativity and Innovation: Contribution to the discipline at the level of theory building or methodological breakthrough/strengthening
[Number of citations/or acknowledgements/views for the paper or creative works]
iii. Impact and visibility of the individual on policy/practice and development
[To be assessed from applicant’s abridged CV]
iv. Fundraising and grantsmanship: Applicant’s funding track record
[To be assessed from applicant’s abridged CV]
v. Authorship: Sole authored papers would have an added advantage
Application Information
a) Applicants should choose one publication only for submission for an award category.
b) Either sole-authored or co-authored publications (with the applicant being the lead author) are eligible.
c) Only works published from 2022 to date are eligible for submission.
d) Acceptable publication formats include scholarly books, research work, monographs,journal articles, fiction, poetry, or publicly performed creative works including theatrical play, musical composition, and choreographed dance production.
Doctoral candidates are to submit copies of their transcripts; and any published work or accepted work in queue for publication (if applicable). For accepted work, kindly provide evidence/letter of acceptance for the publication.
e) Previous awardees are not eligible to apply for the same category of award.
f) The paper should not have been previously submitted for the Provost’s Publication Award.
