A guide to the 2024-2024 GES Transfers and Reposting
The Ghana Education Service has disclosed that the 2024-2024 GES transfers and reposting of teachers will commence on July 1, 2024; however, applicants will be considered in the 2024-2025 academic year. In this write-up, the Ghana Education News team seeks to provide teachers and all interested parties with a step-by-step guide on the 2024-2024 GES transfers and reposting.
What is the step-by-step guide for the 2024-2024 GES transfers and reposting?
Step one of GES transfers and reposting requires teachers to obtain an assurance letter from their current district. The issuance of assurance letters concludes on June 19, 2024.
One needs to secure the assurance letter to proceed with the application process. To be considered, one must submit an application for transfers and reposting within the stipulated time.
The inter-regional reposting application procedure
For GES staff members seeking an interregional reposting application, they must commence the process by July 1, 2024. The deadline for submitting the application for consideration is July 31, 2024.
All applicants must forward their applications to the headquarters via the GES’s established submission channels. Late submission will result in the application being rejected, just as applications were received earlier but without all the required documents attached.
The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service will only approve an application and issue a reposting letter to the applicant. Without the letter, a staff member cannot move from his or her current posting to another. We have implemented this process to guarantee the effective and efficient execution of the reposting or transfer.
The Inter-District Reposting Process
- The applicant must confirm that there is a vacancy in the metro, district, or municipality in the region they wish to transfer or repost to. The assurance letter will confirm this for the applicant.
- After obtaining the assurance letter, you must apply for the release letter from your current metro, district, or municipality in the region of your current post.
- The regional director must sign the release’s final approval, but your request must go from the region’s metro, district, or municipality to the regional office.
- Once the final regional approval is obtained, your current metro, district, or municipal director, as well as the head of your current basic or SHS, will be updated accordingly.
The Inter-Regional Reposting Process

- The regional director must approve and sign the final release, but your request must go from the Metro, District, or Municipal Education Office to the regional office.
- After receiving the Director General’s approval, your current regional director issues a release letter.
The Intra-District Reposting Process
- To request a repost from one school to another within the same metro, district, or municipality, the applicant must write to the district office.
