Dr. Bawumia will lose 2024 elections even if he gives each student a 55″ Samsung Smart TV: Teacher
Dr. Bawumia will lose 2024 elections even if he gives each student a 55″ Samsung Smart TV?
A teacher has prophesied that Vice President and NPP flag bearer Dr. Bawumia will lose the 2024 election even if he gives each student a 55″ Samsung Smart TV. This TV is priced between GHS7000 and GHS9000. The statement by the teacher implies the ruling government cannot use the tablet freebies to coerce students to vote for the NPP.
The teacher further asked how the students who are served food with low nutrition be able to use a tablet. The teacher was one of the educators who reacted to the One-Student, One-Tablet project post published by the Ghana Education Service on its official Facebook page.
“Bawumia can give each student a 55″ Samsung Smart TV, but he will still lose. GES doing politics with our education. I hope their food will also be quality. You can’t own a tablet and eat a low balanced diet.”
In the wake of the launch of the Ghana Smart Schools project to supply over 1.3 million senior high schools with educational tablets in what has become known as the One-Student-One-Tablet project, the general public and teachers have questioned the rationale behind the decision when many secondary schools in the country do not have food and accommodation challenges.
A cross-section of teachers are of the view that the government has lost focus and is throwing away scared resources. Each of the tablets will cost GHS3200.00.
While the government has indicated that the tablets are aimed at equipping learners with the requisite 21st-century skills, teachers quizzed if the tablets were the only priority to solve Ghana’s education problems.
Do you believe that Dr. Bawumia will lose the 2024 elections even if he gives each student a 55″ Samsung Smart TV?
The current leadership has been described as “failed leaders with no shame” as a result of the choices they are making.
There are secondary schools that have furniture problems, yet the government has decided to waste resources on tablets. A comment by a teacher on the matter revealed that there is a huge furniture deficit in Nifa SHS, which has compelled school authorities to ask parents to pay for desks to supplement the existing ones.
“Students are not getting desks to write on; you are here procuring tablets; go to Nifa SHS; parents are asked to pay for desks to supplement non-existing desks.” A teacher vented his frustration.
Another teacher disclosed that the supply of tablets to SHS students under the One-Student-One-Tablet project will not help his school since they do not have desks. He added that students are sitting on building blocks to study.
“I don’t think it can work in my school simply because there is no dusk for students to sit on. Some are sitting on blocks, and some lucky students are pairing single dusk. They should tackle ‘no dusk syndrome’ before enrolling in this project.”
Leadership that fails to listen to the masses is only getting ready for failure, and that is the path the Vice President and NPP flag bearer, Dr. Bawumia, and the ruling NPP have taken with the decision to supply free laptops to students when there are basic challenges that have to be resolved.

Currently, teacher unions are negotiating for three allowances and other pending issues, and there seems to be no solution in sight. The resources for these One-Student, One-Tablet projects can resolve the issues that led to the teacher union strike, but the government seems to be more focused on using such freebies to coerce first-time voters who are in SHS rather than dealing with the problems facing teachers and education in general.
Clearly, teachers are not happy with the decision of the government since there are teachers who are yet to receive their laptops years after their portion of the cost was deducted from their salaries.
Do you think Dr. Bawumia will lose 2024 elections even if he gives such freebies to SHS students?
