Teacher Salomey Starts GWR Read-A-Thon: GES Reacts

A determined teacher under the Ghana Education Service (GES), Ms. Salomey Kwabea Agyei, has commenced her Read-A-Thon challenge aimed at officially breaking a #GuinnessWorldRecord.

The Ghana Education Service has reacted to her GWR attempt and has given her the moral support to go all out to break and set a record she can be proud of.

According to the GES, Ms. Salomey is a dedicated teacher at the Kofiko M/A JHS in Jaman South Municipality. Her mission is to break the Guinness World Record for the longest reading marathon.

The GES seized the opportunity to applaud her inspiring efforts to promote literacy and motivate learners through her project.

The GWR Read-A-Thon started on May 25th, 2024, and will end officially on May 31st, 2024. Overall, we expect her to participate in the reading for 7 days.

Her attempt is the first of its kind in Ghana in education after attempts in music, cooking, and radio presentation (Interviews), which all failed to achieve any records for Ghana.

We anticipate that Teacher Salomey’s GWR Read-A-Thon attempt will boost the morale of both teachers and students. Her engagement in reading will inspire learners to read and develop a passion for books.

The support she is getting from her colleague teachers is very encouraging and infectious. Therefore, the Ghana Education News team is calling on all teacher unions, teachers, and learners to provide Ms. Salomey Kwabea Agyei with the necessary support in every aspect. This support will inspire her to fully embrace this important challenge and bring honor to the teaching fraternity in Ghana. Supporting our colleagues, just as those in the entertainment industry did for their colleagues, will help her in her quest to break and set this GWR Read-A-Thon record.
