Two Female Teachers Die in Fatal Accident on Adukrom to Somanya Road
News coming in indicates that two female teachers from Yilo Krobo Senior High School (SHS) have tragically died in a car accident on the Adukrom to Somanya road in the Eastern Region.
The accident happened on Sunday at Akuni No. 2 around 10:00 pm when the teachers were returning from a colleague’s enstoolment ceremony in the Kwahu area.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash were; A car with the registration number GV 1263-20, owned by the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly, A car with the registration number GR 459-21, driven by Bernard Owusu Agyeman, who had a Chinese national as a passenger, A Toyota Corolla with the registration number GR 901-21, which was carrying the victims.
The two deceased were a Physical Education teacher and a National Service personnel. They died at the scene.
A male teacher, responsible for the school’s cadet program, was critically injured and is being treated at Yilo Krobo District Hospital. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the hospital’s morgue.
Witnesses said the accident happened because the driver of the Abuakwa North Assembly vehicle tried to overtake improperly, causing a collision with the Toyota Corolla. The third vehicle then crashed into the scene.

This incident occurred just hours after a fatal accident involving President Akufo Addo’s convoy on the Bunso to Akyem Asafo stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway. One of the President’s drivers, Mr. Kwesi Atta, died, and several members of the security team were injured.
Chief Superintendent Alexander Kwaku Obeng, the Public Affairs Director of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, expressed concern over the high number of road accidents in the country. He reported that Ghana had 4,503 road crashes in the first quarter of this year, resulting in 829 deaths and 4,955 injuries.
