Upgrade teachers from study leave with pay in 2023: Teachers to GES

Teachers employed by the Ghana Education Service (GES) who went on study leave with pay and returned to the service in 2023 are still in a confused state as the GES has not upgraded the returning teachers to their new grades. Their effort to get the management of the service to take proactive steps to ensure their new grades reflect across official documents of the GES has proved futile over the last year.
The teachers who are now frustrated are wondering if the GES is sensitive and proactive when it comes to managing the human resources of the service and the needs of staff. Officially placing the teachers on their new grades after the study leave with pay would mean not only an intrinsic motivation for them but also bring with it a pay rise, which is an important extrinsic motivation that all teachers in this situation are looking forward to.
In an interaction with some of the teachers, they complained bitterly about the slow pace with which the GES is working on their upgrade nearly a year after they completed the necessary documentation online.
In a related development, the Ghana Education Service (GES) informed all prospective staff returning from study leave with pay that the posting process for 2024 has now been made available online as of September 30, 2024. Qualified teachers were encouraged to apply.

The filling of online posting forms started on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, and closed on Monday, October 14, 2024.
All staff returning from study leave with pay are required to provide accurate and complete information as requested on the application forms.
This is a crucial step for GES staff to ensure a smooth reintegration into the education system. We appreciate your attention to this matter and encourage prompt action to meet the application deadline.
However, some teachers who spoke with Education-News Consult complained of the registration portal malfunctioning, hence their inability to complete the process.
This is too much for us to bear. For a year without putting us on the right scale !
