The BASIC EDUCATION CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (BECE) to be administered by WAEC (July 8–15) is expected to be a different form of examination altogether following the change of the syllabus to the Common Core Curriculum.

Students must be able to answer Yes to all the questions below if they are actually preparing well for the pending BECE.
Answer the first six questions:
- First of all, as a candidate, are you studying well and understanding the topics?
- In addition to the above, have you begun learning how to answer questions and are you arranging answers in a neat and presentable manner?
- Are you demonstrating how to solve problems related to mathematics?
- Are you explaining points well and giving examples to support them?
- As a student are you reading through your answers before submitting them during mock examinations?
- You are in your final year. Are you numbering your answers well and also writing the question numbers at the top of the answer booklets and on the cover page in the rectangular space provided?

Answer the final six questions:
- Also, are you effectively using your timetable as part of your examination preparation?
- While preparing for the exam, are you attempting to teach your colleagues what you are learning? To ensure you are retaining more of it for the 2024 BECE, teach others. This method helps you retain more. You can use this method to test your understanding of the material you have learned. The more you teach others, the better you become.
- Again, you need to work on the speed with which you write answers, as well as ensure that the answers are accurate.
- Also, are you reading through your answers to ensure that you correct all avoidable grammatical and spelling errors, as well as fill in the gaps if there are missing answers in what you have written?
- Furthermore, as you prepare for the BECE, are you shading the objective test well? It would help if you worked on this.
