A motivational video of a teacher has hit the internet after he shared his bittersweet story of how he took a loan of GHS20,000 in Ghana and risked it to travel to Canada.

According to his story, he left Ghana for the US, not knowing what the future had to offer, but finally ended up in Canada, where he became successful. He inspired teachers in Ghana, who earn meager wages, by advising them to embrace risk.

He advises teachers in Ghana to risk travelling abroad if they are thinking of it. He was sincere in admitting that moving from Ghana to the US and then to Canada, where he currently resides, did not come easy, as he had to face several challenges.

The determination, they say, helps unlock the most challenging doors, and so was it for him. His story is based on the proverb “It is better to eat pepper and be happy than to eat honey and be sad.”

Although his salary in Ghana was as low as GHS1600 per month, he made brave choices and followed his dream of leaving Ghana for a better life outside and working there.

According to him, he used his job to his advantage and took a loan of 20,000 cedis to pay for his travel and visa procedures.

His video has garnered a significant number of views. In the video, he conveyed his genuineness and counseled fellow educators not to let their meager income hinder them, echoing his own financial struggles.

He bravely decided to follow his dream of moving to another country and working there, despite receiving very little pay in Ghana.

To overcome the financial obstacle, the teacher used his job to his advantage and obtained a loan of 20,000 cedis to pay for his travel and visa procedures. He was quick to add that his bank balance was one of the major factors when he wanted to travel. He challenged teachers and youth in general to take chances in life and use their experience to reach greater heights.

“I encourage all my colleagues not to complain about lacking funds for travel because I was once in that situation. Take risks; it’s part of life,” he stated in the video.

He added that in all the challenges, God was with him through the difficult moments.
