General Requirements
All applicants must satisfy the general requirements as stated below
- Be a Ghanaian by birth
- Be of good character and without any criminal record
- Not have been dismissed from employment any public service or any other
- Be of minimum height of 5 feet 6 inches (1.68m) for males and 5 feet 2 inches (1.57m) for females;
- Be physically and medically fit by Prisons Service standards.
- Be ready to undergo basic Prisons training and other forms of training.
- Have been registered with the appropriate professional body and of good standing.

JUNIOR OFFICERS CATEGORY
In Addition To The General Requirements All Applicants Must;
- Not be less than 21 and not more than 33 years.
- Not be less than 18 and not more than 25 years (for sportsmen/women only)
- Have been in possession of a minimum six passes in BECE including English and Mathematics and a minimum of five passes in SSSCE/WASSCE including Mathematics and English as at 31/12/2021 (General Duties Category)
- Have been in possession of a minimum six passes in BECE including English and Mathematics and a minimum of NVTI trade test certificate Il of its equivalent in the specific trade as at 31/12/2021 (Artisans Category)
For applicants in agriculture and medical category a minimum of five passes in SSSCE/WASSCE including Mathematics and English and the specific certificate of diploma/ HND qualification is required.
SENIOR OFFICERS (GRADUATE) CATEGORY
In Addition To The General Requirements All Applicants Must
- Must have been in possession of a minimum six passes in SSSCE/ WASSCE including English and Mathematics as at 31/12/2021.
- Be a degree holder or its equivalent.
- Must have completed National Service as at 31/12/2021
- Must be of a minimum age of 21 and not more than 35 years.
- Must have had the specific academic or professional certificate in the chosen field from a recognized university as at 31/12/2021.
- Medical professionals must have completed one year post housemanship with a registered hospital or clinic as at 31/12/2021
It should be noted that
- Successful applicants will be contacted for the next phase of the exercise.
- This will be followed by body selection and inspection of all relevant documents including birth certificates, academic certificates. Applicants who qualify from this stage to the next shall be notified at the screening centre.
- Successful applicants shall undergo medical examination and thorough background checks. Vetting of certificates shall be conducted throughout the process and may continue during and after training.
- An applicant who successfully goes through all the stages above and would not have had any undesirable background/criminal record discovered at this stage would be initiated to commence training
- Transportation/Feeding/Accommodation: Applicants are responsible for their own transportation, feeding and accommodation throughout the recruitment exercise.
- Cost: Applicants will bear the cost associated with the vetting and medical examination.
