Monday June 17th Declared Eid-Ul-Adha Statutory Public Holiday
It is another holiday season in Ghana as the government declares Monday June 17th a Statutory Public Holiday to commemorate the 2024 Eid-Ul-Adha celebration of Muslims in Ghana.
The June 17th Statutory Public Holiday originally fell on Sunday, 16th June, 2024. However since Sunday is already a rest day, the holiday has been shifted to Monday.
In a communique sighted by Ghana Education News, the blog post on the Holiday read ” Sunday, 16th June, 2024 marks Eid-Ul-Adha which is a Statutory Public Holiday
However, because 16th June, 2024 falls on a Sunday, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has declared. M𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟭𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 as an additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.
After the observance of the June 17th a Statutory Public Holiday to commemorate the 2024 Eid-Ul-Adha, Ghanaians will observe five more Holidays before the year ends. The remaining 5 holidays are as follows.
- Founders’ Day on 4th August
- Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day – 21st September
- Farmer’s Day – 6th December
- Christmas Day – 25th December
- Boxing Day26th December
The 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 by the Ministry of Interior on 𝑇𝑢𝑒𝑠𝑑𝑎𝑦, 𝐽𝑢𝑛𝑒 11, 2024 reads as follows.
Monday June 17th Declared Eid-Ul-Adha Statutory Public Holiday
𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝟏𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲.
The general public is hereby informed that Sunday, 16th June, 2024 marks Eid-Ul-Adha which is a Statutory Public Holiday.
However, in view of the fact that 16th June, 2024 falls on a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601) declared 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝟭𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 as an additional Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.
