You would be wondering if this is true or not, but it is a real life story that has happened in Chicago. Dorothy has defied all odds, surpassed all critics and those that sent her discouraging words. She has indeed portrayed the educational world where true determination can land you.

From Chicago, Illinois to the four corners of Tempe, Arizona, Dorothy has made history as the first ever youngest female student to earn a doctorate degree in Integrated Behavioral Health at the age of 17. She earned this degree at the Arizona State University.

From the attributes of ‘Miss’ to now being called a ‘Dr.’, is a remarkable achievement for the teenager from Chicago. Dr. Dorothy Jean Tillman II, earned her doctorate degree at the age of 17 on May 6th, 2024. Dr. Tillman shared her story on her remarkable achievement on ‘Good Morning America’ on ABC TV.

According to Dr. Dorothy Tillman, she was homeschooled in her early years, after which she started college at the age of 10. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in 2018 from Excelsior College in New York. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Humanities. Two years after her bachelor’s degree, she earned her master’s degree in Science. After that, she was accepted into Arizona State University for her doctorate at the age of 15.

Dr. Tillman described the moment as ‘surreal’, and she deemed it to be ‘crazy’. At the age of 17, Miss Dorothy is recognized as the youngest student to earn a doctorate degree in Integrated Behavioral Health. She achieved these before she was deemed eligible to vote in the upcoming US Presidential elections on November 5th, 2024.

As of now, Dr. Dorothy is 18 years, but, she took part in ASU’s commencement ceremony and was awarded as the outstanding graduate at the College of Health Solution’s convocation in 2024.

The program director for the doctorate of behavioral heath at ASU, Lesley Manson disclosed that, Dr. Dorothy showed exceptional tenacity, dedication, and hard work during her time of studies. She tackled every challenge with full force, and never backed down. According to Ms. Manson, Dr. Dorothy can be recognized as a role model to others, and especially females, considering the world we live in and how females are less regarded.

Dr. Dorothy was raised by her single mother. Additionally, she was in a special programme before she started homeschooling at that young age. Her single mother, Jimalita Tillman, guided her daughter on the right track, and at the age of 8, she was attending high school classes. An exceptional planning from the mother.
