Lessons suspended over ‘shit bombing’ incident at Asuafu R/C school
Students and teachers at Asuafu R/C Primary School in the Tain District of the Bono Region were shocked to find human waste spread (Shit Bombing) all over the chalkboard in the Basic 5 classroom. This disturbing incident forced the school to suspend lessons for the affected students.
The headmaster and some students quickly cleaned and sanitized the classroom. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened. Unknown individuals have defecated in the school before, leaving it under students’ desks. The school building’s poor structure makes it hard for authorities to control access and prevent these incidents. The school is appealing for help from the District Education office and other stakeholders to address these challenges.
The incident at Asuafu R/C Primary School is not an isolated one. Unfortunately, ‘shit bombing’ has become a disturbing trend in deprived schools. This disruptive and unsanitary act affects not only the physical learning environment but also the emotional well-being of students and teachers. The lack of proper facilities and security measures in these schools makes them vulnerable to such incidents. The government and GES must take immediate action to address these challenges.
They must;
- Provide adequate funding to improve school infrastructure and sanitation facilities
- Increase security measures to prevent unauthorized access
- Engage with school authorities and communities to address these challenges
- Ensure that students have a safe and conducive learning environment

This incident use to happen in most basic schools in Ghana, especially those in deprived areas. Since the school becomes completely empty and quiet after school or during the weekends, people take advantage of it and do all sorts of evil there. Some play football in the classrooms, while others smoke weed. Students will always have to do extra work on Mondays just to clear these items off. The Ghana Education Service has been called upon to take action immediately.
