Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is the first president of Ghana. His achievements in the education sector is outstanding. He has built a lot of schools in Ghana covering all levels of education. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah served as Ghana’s first President, from 1960 until he was overthrown in 1966.
Dr Kwame Nkrumah introduced free education for all Ghanaians during his presidency. School was free at all levels. Aside tuition fees, students were also given free accommodation and free meals three times a day.
Aside this, he built several tertiary institutions in Ghana, from universities to polytechnics to colleges of education. Some people often refer to him as he nation builder. He built the nation from scratch.
Ghana’s current president, Nana Addo has also introduced free SHS in Ghana. Currently, all SHS students pay no tuition or accommodation fees. Even though President Akufo Addo has also done a lot of work for the education sector, Kwame Nkrumah is still seen as the ultimate champion.
