UCC Graduates 1,198 Postgraduate Students
University of Cape Coast (UCC) has graduated a total of 1,198 postgraduates students in the 58th Congregation for the 2022/2023 school year.
Below is the breakdown of the graduates:
- 19 received a PhD,
- 51 got an MPhil,
- 9 earned an MCom,
- 4 completed an MSc,
- 575 attained an MED,
- 59 received an MBA,
- 121 graduated with an MA,
- There were also 4 Master of Nursing graduates,
- 12 completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), and
- 344 achieved a postgraduate Diploma in Security Studies.
Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, the Vice-Chancellor of UCC, mentioned that the number of postgraduate students at the university has been steadily increasing. He highlighted the importance of adapting new strategies to improve postgraduate training, promote research, and develop policies to make sure postgraduate programs are relevant to societal and economic needs.

Prof. Boampong emphasized UCC’s commitment to becoming a top choice for education in the region. He stressed the university’s dedication to research, teaching, and community engagement to benefit society.
He encouraged the graduates to set clear goals and work hard to achieve them. Prof. Boampong reminded them of their potential to make a positive impact and create job opportunities for themselves and others.
Rev. Prof. Harold Amoono-Kuofi, the Chairman of the UCC Governing Council, highlighted the importance of graduate education in nation-building. He praised the efforts of the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) in meeting the country’s manpower needs.
Dr. Aba Akebi Atta-Eyison, who earned a PhD in Chemistry, was recognized as the valedictorian. She advised her fellow graduates to strive for excellence in everything they do, regardless of their circumstances.
