Ghana Fire Service Gives Update On 2024 Recruitment Exercise
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has officially given an update on the 2024 recruitment exercise.
On 7th August, 2024, the Ghana National Fire Service announced that it has opened the 2024 recruitment portal. However, this recruitment exercise was a limited to only those who applied in September, 2021 but weren’t successful.
According to GNFS, the first phase of the 2024 GNFS recruitment, involving the submission of applicants’ details, has been completed. Applicants are yet to receive feedback on their qualifications for the next stage.
GNFS is awaiting approval to proceed with the second phase, which will involve document verification, height, and body selection.
Applicants will be notified of the specific requirements for this phase.
Applicants are advised to stay vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudsters. Any suspicious activities or scams online should be reported to the GNFS or law enforcement authorities.

In order for an applicant to qualify for the second phase, the applicant must:
- Be a Ghanaian by birth.
- Be of good character.
- Have no criminal record.
- Not have been dismissed from any public service or other employment.
- Be between 18 and 25 years of age.
- Be at least 5 feet 8 inches (173 cm) tall for males and 5 feet 4 inches (163 cm) tall for females.
- Be physically and medically fit according to Ghana National Fire Service standards.
- Have a minimum of five passes in SSCE/WASSCE, including Mathematics and English, as of December 1, 2021.
- Be ready to undergo basic training and other forms of training
It should need noted that
- Successful applicants will be contacted for the next phase of the exercise.
- This will be followed by body selection and inspection of all relevant documents, including birth certificates, academic certificates, and transcripts. Applicants who qualify will be notified at the screening center.
- Successful applicants will undergo a medical examination and thorough background checks. Vetting of certificates will continue throughout the process and may extend during and after training.
- Applicants who successfully pass all stages and have no undesirable background or criminal record will be invited to commence training.
- Applicants are responsible for their own transportation, feeding, and accommodation throughout the recruitment exercise.
- Applicants will bear the cost associated with vetting and medical examinations.
